Upper Haugh Cricket Club Partnership

Rawmarsh St Josephs are delighted to confirm that we’ve come to an agreement with our friends and neighbours at Upper Haugh Cricket Club to host their Third Team games at Stubbin starting next Season 2021.

This partnership continues the clubs recent development and aligns perfectly to our ambition of becoming the sporting hub for our local community.

Not only can people now come down to Stubbin on a Sunday for their football fix, they can now make their way down on a Saturday to watch the latest cricketing talent on show.

Work on Stubbin to create the Cricket pitch is planned to start soon and will be located between the intermediate and small sided pitches.

Paul Armin, Chairman “Partnering with Upper Haugh Cricket club was a simple decision, our committee members met with the club and were impressed with their ambition, vision and ideas on how a tie up would benefit not only the club, but the community as a whole.  Having a development team playing at Stubbin will give our members an opportunity to play cricket through the summer.”

Shane Horne, Committee Member and Community Lead “we’ve done so much work recently to strengthen our ties in our community and this is a real boost for our club.  Partnering with others is exactly what a Community Club is all about.  I’m a firm believer that we will be the centre of sport in Rawmarsh one day and this is a big step in the right direction.  The more clubs we pull together the better chance we have of delivering something for our community and something to be really proud of

Since the announcement this week a few questions have been asked which we would like to clarify;

Q. Where will the Cricket pitch be located?

A. It’ll be located between the intermediate and small sided pitch.  Neither pitch will need to be moved.  The area will be fenced off during the winter to ensure it doesn’t get damaged by Sunday football.

Q. Will there be any impact on pitch maintenance through the summer?

A. No, cricket will be hosted on Saturdays only and therefore won’t impact on the clubs plans to maintain and improve the pitches through the football close season.

Q. Will this impact football being played at Stubbin?

A. No we don’t expect there to be any change in hosting football games at Stubbin.  Upper Haugh will have access for games on Saturdays only which will be played when football isn’t being played.

Q. Will Upper Haugh be playing through the summer, will it impact the footballing clubs training plans?

A. No, cricket will only be played on a Saturday at Stubbin.  All Cricket training and Sunday games will be hosted at Upper Haughs home ground.
